

About
Mr Ash is an experienced and accomplished gynaecologist, having worked in the field of women’s health for over twenty years. He completed his undergraduate training at the Royal Free Hospital School of Medicine, London, qualifying in 2002. Following a year spent working in a busy obstetric hospital in West Australia, he undertook his postgraduate obstetric and gynaecological training in Bristol and the Southwest, giving him broad and comprehensive experience in all aspects of women’s health.
Mr Ash relocated to Lancashire in 2013 to take up his consultant post at Burnley and Blackburn Hospitals, where he has continued to work since. As well as his busy clinical role, Mr Ash is Associate Medical Director for Improvement for ELHT, where he is able to further his passion for improving healthcare.

Menstrual problems
Mr Ash is experienced in both medical and surgical management of heavy and painful periods including fibroids. Potential treatments include drug treatments, endometrial ablation and hysterectomy, which is usually minimal access and allows for short stays in hospital and a quick return to normal activities.
Pelvic pain
Pelvic pain in women is multifactorial and Mr Ash is accomplished at discussing and investigating the various possible causes and instigating medical and surgical treatment. He offers diagnostic laparoscopy, laparoscopic treatment of endometriosis, and hysterectomy.
Vulval and labial surgery
Mr Ash offers surgical treatment for enlarged labia causing physical problems, excision of vulval lumps and bumps, and surgical management of painful intercourse.
Vaginal prolapse and urinary problems
Mr Ash is experienced in both conservative and surgical management of vaginal prolapse, including vaginal pessaries, and anterior and posterior vaginal wall repair. He offers medical treatment of bladder overactivity including intravesical Botox treatment.
Menopause
Mr Ash is a strong advocate for women on their menopause journey and is experienced in supporting women by managing and treating symptoms holistically. He has extensive experience in HRT, including initiation of testosterone therapy.
Surgical Expertise
In his NHS practice, Mr Ash has a significant surgical workload, performing major and minimally invasive procedures on a weekly basis, and is a respected teacher of junior surgical colleagues. In addition to his excellent surgical skills, Mr Ash is conscious of the need for robust explanation, discussion and consent, with safety and patient involvement being his primary concerns at all times.
